WHAT IS IT ?

Thanks to an inclusive and personalized approach provided by our experienced coaches, students will have the opportunity to rehearse in a band and perform on stage. It’s the perfect way to explore an instrument, learn to play music in a band, and socialize with other music lovers! Rock stars can choose to participate in one or more blocks during the school year.

Socialization in a band

An extracurricular activity that introduces youth to music in a band setting and fosters socialization through a shared passion.

Development through music

Allows young people to develop their memory, dexterity, concentration and self-esteem through band music.

Inclusion through creation

Promotes inclusion in an environment that respects the realities of everyone.

VERDUN ROCK is an original initiative developed as part of Verdun’s 150th anniversary, perfectly integrating our ROCK LIBRE extracurricular formula to offer young rock stars the chance to take part in major shows in front of an audience and/or as part of key events in the neighborhood!

January 6 to March 23, 2025

This first edition of VERDUN ROCK offers band rehearsals, with a view to participating in a BIG SHOW at the prestigious CABANE PANACHE festival on March 23, 2025! Over the course of 12 weeks, the young rock stars will have the opportunity to discover and explore a wide range of musical styles, including traditional Quebec music, in keeping with the energy of the CABANE PANACHE festival!

All this will take place in a dynamic and inclusive setting, with the aim of encouraging creativity and collaborative learning, while fostering socialization through band music.

This second edition of VERDUN ROCK offers band rehearsals, with a view to taking part in a BIG SHOW at Arthur-Therrien Park, on a stage adjacent to that of Verdun’s 150th anniversary spokesman band, CLAY & FRIENDS, on June 28, 2025! Over the course of 12 weeks, the young rock stars will have the opportunity to discover and freely explore musical styles, but also the world of CLAY & FRIENDS and “pop rock” music, in order to honor them!

All in a dynamic and inclusive setting, the aim is to encourage creativity and collaborative learning, while fostering socialization through band music. Come and cheer on our young rock stars as they perform for Verdun’s 150th anniversary at Arthur-Therrien Park!

This third edition of VERDUN ROCK features band rehearsals, with a view to opening for Quebec band PRINCESSES at West Vancouver Park on August 28, 2025! Over the course of 9 weeks, the young rock stars will have the opportunity to discover and freely explore different musical styles, as well as the world of PRINCESSES, in order to draw inspiration from their powerful lyrics and percussive music!

All this will take place in a dynamic and inclusive setting, with the aim of encouraging creativity and collaborative learning, while fostering socialization through band music. Come and cheer on our young rock stars as they perform for Verdun’s 150th anniversary at Parc West-Vancouver!

From Sept. 15 to Dec. 6, 2025

This fourth and final edition of VERDUN ROCK features band rehearsals, with a view to performing at the closing event of Verdun’s 150th anniversary, during the final GRAND SHOW at Quai 5160 – Maison de la culture de Verdun, on December 6, 2025! Over the course of 12 weeks, the young rock stars will explore different styles of music that have marked history, to build a powerful and… EPIC show!

All this will be done in a dynamic and inclusive setting, with the aim of encouraging creativity and collaborative learning, while fostering socialization through band music. Come and cheer on our young rock stars as they perform for the 150th anniversary of Verdun at Quai 5160!

This 6-week block is an introduction to group music, with integrated performance, where young rock stars have the opportunity to freely discover and explore their musical style in a dynamic and inclusive setting. The aim is to encourage creativity and collaborative learning, while promoting socialization through band music.

The PUNK ROCK theme introduces students to the 70s punk scene, a style with strong, fast accents, while allowing them freedom in their choice of songs.

Come and support our young rock stars for their end-of-session performance at Brasserie Bénélux.

GLAM ROCK

April 7 to May 12, 2025

This 6-week block is an introduction to band music, with integrated performance, where young people have the opportunity to freely discover and explore their musical style in a dynamic and inclusive setting. The aim is to encourage creativity and collaborative learning, while promoting socialization through band music. The GLAM ROCK theme is inspired by the British rock music scene of the 70s, enabling youngsters to learn how to play hard-hitting tunes, while discovering an iconic world! The emphasis is on performance and style, important and historic markers in the world of rock. Come and support our young rock stars for their end-of-session performance at Brasserie Bénélux.

The HARD ROCK theme offers direction in the discovery of a new musical style, while allowing freedom in song selection.
